Parent Resources

Practical pediatric resources to help families prepare for appointments, track recurring concerns and build healthy routines at home.

Use health information to prepare questions—not to self-diagnose

Reliable information can help parents understand common terms and prepare questions, but it cannot replace an examination when a child is unwell. Symptoms overlap between many childhood conditions, and treatment depends on age, examination findings, medical history and severity.

Keep a simple child health record

Store vaccination records, growth information, allergies, current medicines, important diagnoses, hospital summaries and specialist reports together. A clear record makes routine appointments, referrals and urgent care easier to coordinate.

Track recurring symptoms

For recurrent cough, abdominal pain, headaches, rashes, feeding problems or sleep concerns, a short diary of timing, triggers, foods, activity, school attendance and medicines can reveal useful patterns.

Prepare for preventive visits

Write down questions about growth, development, sleep, nutrition, school, activity, behaviour or vaccination. Preventive visits are a good time to discuss concerns that may not feel urgent enough for a sick-child appointment but still matter to the family.

Know your urgent warning signs

Every family should know when routine advice is not enough. Severe breathing difficulty, blue lips, seizures, unusual drowsiness, significant dehydration, major injury or rapidly worsening illness needs urgent medical assessment.

Use the guides below as starting points

The resource pages cover newborn preparation, vaccination planning, growth and milestones, feeding and nutrition, fever and sick-child monitoring, and school/adolescent health. They are general education and can be edited from the WordPress page editor.
